Goodbye 2012

I would love to be writing that we have been on the bike today riding in really nice warm weather somewhere exotic, but I have to be truthful and tell you that the bike hasn't been out of the shop for a couple of weeks.  :(  The Harley is STILL at the Harley Shop, so Snow the Goldwing is lonely out there.  It is cold and messy outside.  We have actually had snow, and drizzle for a few days.  Me being a sun person, is really ready to see some SUN!!!

We usually do our annual ride on New Years Day, but I am not sure if we will be able to do it tomorrow or not.  The weather isn't sounding very favorable.  You know, sometimes Oklahoma actually has a winter...LOL.

As far as the blog goes,  I have attempted to learn about the blogging community.  I have learned there are blog hops, and they help build your reading stats.  I really didn't know if I thought anyone else would find our riding a motorcycle interesting, but I guess there are a few out there that think it is fun.  I was amazed that the most looked at blog for this year was My Fitbit vs. the Washer  Nothing about riding, but it does show what a dumb blond I can be sometimes.  :)

I hope everyone that has ridden some or most of the 22,000 miles we rode this year have made some memories.  We have, that's for sure.  Life has been good this year.  We are healthy. We have a wonderful family.  We have an awesome group of people that ride with us to all ends of the earth.  What more could a person ask for.  I know...to win the lottery....well, don't hold your breath on that one, because you have to buy a ticket to win.  Happy New Year everyone.  See you on the rode in 2013...Where will it take us!!!  Tune in next year to find out.

Christmas 2012

12-24-12
We traveled to Norman to celebrate Christmas Eve with the kids and grand kids.  We picked up Mother and Louie and got there around 4:30 and had some dinner with them.  Cooper is so excited to open presents, she wasn't really interested in eating.  Imagine that!!!

We have a wonderful time with the kids.  Totally made trash out of all the beautifully wrapped presents.    So fun to watch the kids dig into the packages and open them in seconds, and be ready to open some more.  Cooper was able to spot the tags that had her name on them.  Man, she is growing up!  What a wonderful two grand kids we have.  I know, most grandparents say that same thing, but these kids are really very well behaved, and are such fun to be with.

Cash was getting into the Christmas spirit as well.  He got a hot wheels, and we bought him a helmet, and it was so funny to watch him try to get that helmet on.  He knew he was supposed to wear it, just was a little big for him.  :)

The guys were getting into the Christmas Spirit as well, and I really mean Christmas Spirits!!!  Louie got a couple of bottles of wine, and seems they wanted to try it out.   A cork screw was no where to be found, and the neighbors weren't home, so our own McGuiver (Chuck) got his trusty 3/8" ratchet drive extension and beat the cork down into the wine.  Oh Yes He Did!!!!  Cork in the bottom of the bottle, yep, that's the way you do it.  Makes them even another reason to drink the whole bottle...not a drop left.  Boys will be boys you know.  :)

We fed the rain deer their food, so looks like Rudolph and his helpers will have plenty to eat.  The kids are worn out, so we start back home around 8.

Mother & Louie are going to spend the night with us tonight, as we are supposed to have snow tomorrow.  We didn't want them to spend Christmas Day alone, so the Bed & Breakfast of ChukaDi Acre is up and running.  :)

12-25-12
The snow is supposed to be here around 3am, so I wake up about 4am, and peak outside.  Looks like we have had a little bit of freezing rain, but didn't see any snow.  All we have heard about is this storm that is coming.  By the time we are up around 7:30 it still doesn't look like we have had any snow.  All the TV stations are covering this "event" like it is an "event"....but it actually has made a shift and has traveled a little more southwest.  It is very cold and windy, but we just got a dusting of snow.  Oh well, just glad we are all safe and warm.  It was fun cooking with my mom today.  We made chili and corn bread for lunch, and I didn't hear anyone complain about it!!!
Day after the snow storm  :)

It was time to take mother and Louie back home.  Chuck gets out the truck and warms it up.  It is just really bitterly cold.  The roads weren't too bad.  The moisture I spoke about has left a fine glaze of ice on the roads, and of course you see the people that think they are the experts at driving on it.  You know the ones, that pull out in front of you, and spin out.  People....slow down....

Front of house after the great snow storm  :)
Back home and the truck is back in the barn.  Christmas 2012 is coming to an end.  Hated we didn't get to see the kids today, but the roads weren't that good to get out and drive very far.  You know this is Oklahoma, and we have a lot of people that just don't need to be driving on this stuff.  Might as well be safe.

Merry Christmas to everyone and hope you had a wonderful day....we did....a little different, but it was great!!!

Christmas Mug Swap Reveal 12-17-12

This year has been my first year to follow other bloggers, and interact with them.  I am pretty new to the blog world.  Don't get me wrong, I have blogged for a couple of years, but I didn't get really involved and follow blogs, and do blog hops till this year.  I have to say it is really fun, and I think you meet some of the nicest people out there in blog land.  The mug swap is just another way to meet some very nice people.  Read below and you will see what I am talking about.

Today is the day.  We get to reveal our Christmas mug that we received.   I have to say this is my "first" mug swap, and I have really enjoyed being a part of it.
I would love to say "Thank You" to Heather Kaluf of Heatherly Loves for hosting the swap.  I have to say you have made it very easy, and for us first timers we really do appreciate it.  Thumbs up all the way!!!

Now, back to my mug!!!  I received a box about a week ago, and I knew it was my mug!!!  I was so excited...I tore into it, and was so excited to see one of the cutest Christmas Penguin I had ever seen.  Not only did I receive a mug, but also got some yummy Starbucks Peppermint Mocha Coffee.  Yum is all I can say!!!  Thank you so much Michelle from Elk Grove, CA.  I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas...I will sitting around the fire sipping on my Peppermint Mocha Coffee in my awesome Penguin mug!!!  Thanks soooo much!!!

Here is a pic of my mug and coffee....now don't you wish you had been involved in a Christmas Mug Swap!!!   :)

I enjoy blogging, and I write 2 blogs.  I have one for biker chick that I am...LOL...which is My Life As We Know It, and I have one for the decorator that I am during the week, and it is Blinds & Designs Too.  I hope you will follow me and my crazy life at one or maybe even both of my blogs.

Merry Christmas to everyone out there in blog land and to you that don't blog, Merry Christmas as well  :)  Love you all!

FNDR 12-14-12 NOT!!! We had a wedding to attend!!

Oh yes we did....We were even invited!!!

Our friends Allen & Doreen got married Friday night!!  We were asked to share this moment with them, and of course we couldn't say no!

We head to Dibble OK on a very dreary misty Friday night.  We haven't had any moisture in quite a while so didn't want to complain, but really, its Doreen's wedding day.

It didn't dampen the spirit of these love birds.  Their wedding was very upbeat, just like they are.  We enjoyed the little stunt that Doreen pulled on Allen.  He had made a comment that is was time for him to get the nose ring put in, so Miss Doreen goes and buys a nose ring, and during the exchanging of the wedding rings, when it was her time to give Allen his, she pulls out the nose ring.  We all got a real good laugh out of it.  Allen was a really good sport and after we all finished laughing, she gave him his real ring.  Made for a very light hearted wedding.  Enjoyed it!!!

We wish them the best for the years ahead of them.  Congrats to Allen & Doreen...Love you guys!!!!
(Still think we should have all ridden to Las Vegas and gone to the drive thru Elvis wedding shop)

FNDR 12-7-12 McAlisters

We are going to meet at McAlister's in Moore tonight.  Chuck has been stuck in Duncan all day, and is going to try to meet up with us.  Diana & Chris swing by the house and get me.  We had no idea it would take us so long to get to Moore.  The traffic was terrible.  Wrecks were everywhere.  They were only fender benders, but it sure did a number on the traffic.

I talked to Chuck and it looks like he is going to be right behind us.  It has taken us something like an hour and fifteen minutes to get to McAlister's.  Chuck on the other hand has driven about 70 miles, and actually almost beat us there.

I was able to order his food, and he pulled in about 5 minutes later.  We had a pretty good group tonight even though the traffic played with some of them too.  Keven & Wendy made it tonight.  We got to hear about Keven's experience of being a checker at Walmart.  Oh, the stories he tells us.  LOL  He should write a book, or better yet, a blog about it.

Allen & Doreen didn't make it tonight, as she has become a new grandma today.  They have been busy getting their marriage license today also.  Looks like we will be going to their wedding next Friday night.  We are looking forward to being a part of these guys new life they will be sharing.  Heck, we were there for the engagement.  Got to see this thing through.  :)

More on the wedding next week.

12-2-12 Sunday Ride

We are going to ride to eat some lunch and enjoy this beautiful day that God has given us. Diana & Chris come to the house about noon. We purchased the new Scala G9 Blue tooth wireless headset, and we are going to try them out today. We have been using the Scala G4's and have been pretty pleased with them, but the new ones are supposed to be even clearer and has the capability to talk to 9 bikes. (not that we will ever have 9 bikes with these sets, but they have a lot of nice features)

We get our systems paired with each other and we are off to Steve's BBQ in Edmond. The G9's seem to be a lot more quiet. The new sets along with the old ones are really nice, especially for making phone calls. I have called several people in the past and they have no idea that I am on the back of the bike, and no idea that we are going 70 mph. We have gotten where we just open the mikes to all four of us, and we have conversations as if we are sitting in a vehicle together. Seems to work very well for us.

We get to Steve's BBQ around 1:30 and we get right in. Perfect time to be there as the lunch crowd was finishing up and the place was pretty quiet. The food, oh my, it was really good. I know I was really hungry, but the ribs fell off the bones. Everything was great. Chris &Diana got the peach cobbler with ice cream, but I didn't have any room for anything else, nor did Chuck.

We are going to get some riding in, and the usual question comes up....where do we go? I suggest heading towards Pops, in Arcadia. Chuck pulls up to the gas station at Pops and we fill Snow the Gold wing up with gas. Yes, we are wingers today. I am telling you, I am really getting kinda used to this bike. Very comfortable and just no drama with her! No leaks, and no tinkering with her. Just get on and ride.

We head east on Rt. 66 to Wellston. From there we take Hwy. 102 back south. Nice road, with some new things to look at. New scenery is always a good thing. We come back through Choctaw. We turn on Sooner Rd. back to the north, and make an ice cream stop at the Braums in NE 63rd. The treat was really good.

As we come back towards the northwest side of the City we make a stop at Home Depot. Diana is looking for some Christmas lights for their trees on the outside of the house.  Looks like the rest of the world has had the same idea, as they are just about sold out of lights. I guess the mild weather has everyone wanting to decorate their homes for the holidays. Chris finds a Milwaukee Battery charger and radio that he wanted. Diana picks up a couple of Christmas presents and we they have about maxed out their storage on the bike. LOL....as they strap on the big box on the back of their bike, I laughed and said we probably have people watching to see if they are able to do it. Loaded and ready to make our final stops at home, Chuck let's Chris lead as we head west on the Northwest Expressway to make sure his load is ride worthy.... We got a good laugh out of the Milwaukee box sitting nicely on their luggage rack.

As we say our goodbyes, Chuck tells them that it looks like they are carrying a box of beer. You know that Milwaukee brand. ROFL. Sometimes it's the little things that can make a day one to remember. In case we get old and can't remember these little things, I always try to have the camera near by.  So glad I was about to get a couple....made me laugh, lots!!!

Fun day, and can stand a lot more if this kind of weather hold out.  Saturday we broke the record for warmth. It got to 78. Today's high was 72. Not bad, not bad at all!  Cooler weather is forcast for the next week, so we will have to just wait and see.  Happy Sunday to all.
