FNDR 1-18-13 Taco Cabana

I think sometimes when I write about our Friday Night Dinner Rides, I should be a food critic  :)  Seems like in the winter there just isn't a lot to talk about as far as the riding....Imagine that.  Just don't get to put very many miles on during the winter months due to the cold.  So I guess you will just have to endure more food blogs...so enjoy!

Seems we always end up on Friday nights to have a wonderful margarita at Taco Cabana but we never eat there. Our destination tonight for dinner was Taco Cabana. We had only two other couples show up. The Biggs and the Darlings and their two boys were the extent of our group tonight.

The food was really good for a fast food place. Pretty impressed actually. In Oklahoma there is a Mexican food restaurant on about ever corner, so you get to try a lot of different renditions of it. We had some really good food and then we have had some really bad. I would eat here again without a doubt. The margaritas weren't too shabby either. :)

We rode with the Biggs tonight. We "winged" it. The weather is great for January. We were close to 60 today and on the way home it was 45. Not too bad!!! We are all ready for some Spring weather. We already have our rooms booked for Red River New Mexico ride and Galveston Texas ride.  Galveston isn't until October but if you want a room on the island you have to get them booked early.

I can't wait to start sharing with everyone our trips this year. We are even going to the "Wingding".  Oh yes we are. Guess you will just have to check back to hear all about it! By the way, Wingding will be in July.

Looking forward to lots of riding this year.

FNDR 1-11-12 The Manicotti Nazi is in Oklahoma

View from the back of the bike!!!
Diana told me about an Italian Restaurant on the south side of Oklahoma City, so why not try it.  Heck we are always game to eat some place new.  Her friend Donna (Mama Donna) had told her about it, so looks like that is our destination for our Friday Night Dinner Ride.

Looking back to the North

The weather has been crazy lately.  We have very cold days, and snow, and then we have days like today.  Not very many of them, but we have a perfect day to ride to eat tonight.  The temp. is in the 60's.  Now don't get me wrong, its not "perfect".....we have some gale force winds, but by the time we head out, they have actually laid down some.  The winds had blown to 40mph today...not good!!!

We head towards the south side of the City around 5:30.  The evening traffic has calmed down some.  The highways weren't that busy, but of course we are going against the traffic.  Most people are trying to get out of the City, and we are heading back in.

We get to the restaurant at 6:25 and looks like we are the last ones to get there...and we are the only ones that rode.  Wasn't too excited to ride this evening, but I have to say it was a really nice evening to get on the bike.  The sunset was beautiful.  Of course I had to take a pic of it.  We really do have some great sunsets here in Oklahoma.  :)

Diana mentioned when she called to reserve the table that the lady was a bit abrupt.  We saw it in person, and we both decided it was just her nature.  Not meaning to be mean, but she was just a woman on a mission.  The food came out pretty well, until it came to Allen & Doreens manicotti.  The lady came into the room and ask if they weren't eating....well, they thought they were!!!! Come to find out the kitchen had made a mistake and their manicotti hadn't been made.  It took quite a while to get it, but all worked out.

Manicotti, Finally!!!

During this wait, I decided the lady we were talking about was just like the "Soup Nazi" on Seinfeld.  Yep, she was...only she was the Manicotti Nazi!!!  Oh did we take that for a spin...we all laughed quite a bit about that.

The food, oh yeah, the food.....It was good....lots of it....way too much.  Since we were on the bike, no leftovers were going home with us, so Tom was the lucky guy that took all ours, and Diana's left overs home.  Heck, as much food as we got, they could eat for day on!!!  We had a count of 11 tonight.  The room the Manicotti Nazi prepared for us was great....we were in there by ourselves, so we could laugh and cut up without bothering any one else.

The ride to Taco Cabana was really nice.  The temp is still comfortable.  As we headed home about 10:30 the wind has switched to the North, and looks like this day of Spring is over.  We have a cold front due in tomorrow and they are calling for some light freezing rain  :(  Oh Winter, you can go away anytime...we have had enough of you.

PS...The lady the manages the Taco Cabana starts filling 4 cups of Margarita's when she sees us walk in...Are we a "regular" or what!!!  Good margaritas...that's all I can say!

First RIde 2013 (finally)

January 1st wasn't conducive to riding the bike as we usually do.  I had a cold, or something, and didn't feel very good, and the weather really wasn't very nice.  So to say the least, it didn't really hurt my feelings not to get out and ride to the State Capital as we have done for the past several years.

The pictures at the Capital had to wait until Sunday, Jan. 6th.  I would love to say that we had a large turn out of fellow riders, but I didn't give anyone much time to plan.  I sent an email out this morning, and by the time all was said and done, we had one other bike going with us.  Our friends Diana & Chris were up for the ride.

They were over at the house by noon, and we took off to grab some lunch.  The sun was shining big time, and it is really a mild day.  The temperature is supposed to get to 48 today.  We ride to Bricktown, and eat at Earls BBQ.  Had one of the best waitress you could ask for.  She liked us as well.  Told us she works every weekend, and to come back and see her.  She liked us!!!  Food was great too!

Chris had a wreck this week, and is looking for a truck.  He was in contact with a guy and after we finish our photo op, we are going to ride to Tuttle and check out the truck he has for sale.

Didn't take very long to take pics, since there was only 2 bikes....LOL...Tripod was easily set up and we snapped a few pics, and we were done.  That's the way it works.  We go, we get the pic and we are on our way.

Diana & Chris
Since we had a little time to kill, I suggest we go to Starbucks and drink some coffee, and chill for awhile.  The ride to Starbucks was nice.  The temperature is wonderful for January.

Time to head to Tuttle to see a man about a truck.
Ends up Chuck and I know the people that are selling it.  Had sold them a couple of houses of blinds in the past.  Man, you have to be nice, cause you never know who might know you  :)

Chuck & I

We end our day  around 5pm, and it was about the perfect time to get back home.  The sun is starting to set, and it is getting cooler.  Enjoyed the day.  Nothing like getting out and taking a spin to begin the year off right, even if it is a few day late.   Happy New Year!
